Very good food and I would recommend the beef ribs or the chicken platters with rice and French fries. Picking up, the service is decent. It is on the corner of an Elizabeth street so the Ambiance is average, but it's a take out place so that shouldn't be a big deal.

Ferry St. BBQ has been a spot that I've been coming to for years, as I've worked my entire career in Newark. Just as I remember it before, it is the same today- lines out the door and the phones ringing non stop. While there is ample space for dining in, I ordered take out. Gentleman told me it would be ready in 15 minutes, I ended up waiting for 25, no biggie as I enjoyed the scent of roasting chicken on open fire (seriously, I do). I ordered a half chicken and half salmon with fries, salad and rice. The rice was a bit saltier than I remembered it and the salmon could've been cooked a tiny bit longer. Overall, Ferry St. BBQ is a staple in Newark and nothing can hit the spot better when you're in the Ironbound, in a rush and looking for a good bite.

What a place to utterly gorge yourself on high quality, wood grilled.... Succulent tangles of delight. The smell when you hit the door along with the crackling sounds of sizzling fat. Well are you hungry yet? Have black beans and rice with ribs. Or chicken. Salubrious !!

Almost 15yrs now and the food is still always great, hot , fresh and filling!!! Ferry St BBQ never misses!

I've been a customer of Ferry St BBQ for at least a decade and can attest they are consistently great at what they do. Chicken/ribs/short ribs/fish/picadinho has never disappointed. The menu is very limited which is exactly why they do such a great job. Parking is a bit rough, but worth taking a spin or two around the block.

I love this place. It's a local Portuguese barbecue restaurant and this was my go to in college and still continues to be a great lunch spot for when I'm really hungry and don't wanna spend too much. All my friends and I love it. It's not the fanciest place but it gets the job done. I always order the half chicken and the amount of food is insane. This one meal of half a chicken and a mountain of rice fries will feed you for breakfast, lunch and dinner for only $9. It really doesn't get better than that. Great place.

Ferry Street BBQ is jumping on a cold Saturday night. We came here after visiting the Newark Art Museum. We were drawn by the wafting BBQ flavors. The menu is simple but they deliver the goods. Everything is fresh and good.

Such simple and casual brazillian bbq...but so good! Service is super fast. Walked in and saw a long line but it was moving quick. And the girl behind the counter was even faster. Whole chicken- delicious. Spare ribs- great flavor..but not enough meat. Yellow rice and black beans- good, nothing special..but once you had the red hot sauce and the clear vinegar sauce, even better. french fries- right amount of crisp and right amount of salt. Best thing? Huge huge HUGE portions (a whole serving tray worth of food) for about $15 each! Tip: go early if you want to dine- in, indoor seating is limited. Recommend? Yes Return? Yes
